Flagstaff Day 2

grand_canyon_01Today I went to visit the Grand Canyon National Park to see one of the prettiest and historic canyons for my last day in Flagstaff. The canyon stretches 277 miles long and at the widest point 18 miles across! It has been forming for the over 2 billion years and the Colorado river runs through the Grand Canyon. I only went sightseeing but you can do other activities like rafting and hiking through the canyon. There are other parts of the canyon that you can visit as well around parts of Arizona. It was so amazing to see the historic canyon where American Indians lived and built their lives.

After that I went back to town and grabbed lunch at a little diner. Since there was snow I decided to hit the slopes at a ski lift in the San Francisco peaks. Flagstaff is known as a mountain and outdoor activities type of city. There were many people snowboarding  and skiing, it was very popular. You can even ride the ski lift in the summer and take a nice hike. I had a lot of fun riding up the ski lift and skiing down.

Overall my whole trip was great and I explored and learned a lot in my two days there. Flagstaff is a city in Arizona because of the construction of the transcontinental railroad and was built by ranchers and Native Americans. I am very glad that I went too Flagstaff and had a great time.
